Hi, I'm Ms. Nelson

I am a first grade teacher at the Minnehaha Elementary School.  I love teaching first graders. First graders are so excited about learning and they love being in school!  It is impressive how much first graders can learn in the course of one year!  They are a pretty awesome bunch.

I received my teaching degree from St. Cloud State University.  I received my Masters Degree in Education from St. Mary's University.  I have also taught continuing education courses for teachers through the University of Minnesota, Duluth and Hamline University

I have two children. A son, Nicholas and a daughter, Brianne.  Both of my children are grown and live in the St. Paul area.

I like to travel and have been to many of the states in the United States.  I have also been to five other countries.  I love to experience new places, people, and things.

I love animals and have had many in my lifetime including dogs, cats, horses, mice, a rat, bunnies, a chicken (yes it was a pet), guinea pigs, lizards, fish, and hamsters.  Luckily they were spread out over my lifetime so I never had too many at one time!

When I am relaxing, my favorite thing to do is read!  I love to read and I hope that my students also will develop a love of reading.
